The CDTA Recognized Member designation was recently created to formally acknowledge experienced dance educators who have achieved professional training, certifications, and/or substantial teaching experience through reputable dance organizations and industry pathways. This initiative reflects CDTA’s commitment to inclusivity, professional recognition, and national community-building, while continuing to uphold the integrity and standards of the Association.
To be considered for this membership category, applicants are required to complete Recognized Member application form, along with supporting documentation outlining their dance education background, certifications, professional affiliations, and teaching experience. Once the application is completed and returned, it will be reviewed by our National Board in accordance with the Recognized Member policy.
Recognized Members are welcomed into the professional community of CDTA and may participate in many aspects of the organization. However, if a Recognized Member wishes to enter students into CDTA Student/Amateur Examinations, completion of the applicable CDTA Syllabus Intensive Course(s) would be required prior to entering students for examinations. These online courses are offered through the CDTA Education Centre and are designed to ensure familiarity with CDTA syllabus content and examination standards specific to each discipline. There is no formal examination required upon completion of these courses.
Please note that the Recognized Member category recognizes established qualifications obtained through other reputable organizations and professional experience while providing access to membership within the CDTA professional community.
