Steps to Achieving Jazz Licentiate Professional Qualification

*Visit cdtanational.ca and fill out an application to join CDTA as a Pre-Associate/Affiliate. $115.00 yearly fee (September-August). Once you are a member you will have access to our Professional Examination Manual and access to our Education Centre.

*Before applying for your professional exam you will be asked to provide proof that you have completed your Elementary CDTA Exam (or equivalent) in the Jazz discipline or a video of yourself dancing (recital or competition video) or of yourself teaching.

*Through our website purchase the Junior and Senior Jazz Syllabi. (If you are not familiar with the work we recommend you purchase the videos as well).

*Purchase our online Syllabus Intensives. Junior and Senior Grades are available now $82.50 each. This will help you learn the work, Licentiate Candidates are required to have full knowledge of the CDTA Junior & Senior Jazz Terminology & Syllabus content. You will receive a certificate of completion after completing each intensive.

*Purchase our 4 Teacher Development Courses $45.00 each (Anatomy, History, Pedagogy and Music). You will receive a certificate of completion as well as study notes, after completing each course.

*When you are familiar with the work and glossary you can then enter for your Professional Examination. (Click below to view the Professional Examination Form).

*You will prepare and video yourself teaching two non-syllabus classes (Grade 3 and Elementary to submit for evaluation.

*You will be required to send in some written work prior to your exam: Anatomy questions, definition of musical terms, essay on Jazz Dancing and your Biography.

*The Exam will be held via Zoom. Licentiate Examination entry fee is $375.00.
